Academic Program Terms of Use

HumanSignal has developed and makes available SaaS-based data labeling tools (collectively, the “HumanSignal Product”) to qualified Academic Institutions.  To be eligible for the Label Studio Academic Program, each user must register for the Label Studio Enterprise Free Trial, and review and accept the Terms of Service for the HumanSignal Free Trial Period using the mechanism provided by HumanSignal in the registration process.

Under the Academic Program License, eligible users will be afforded additional allowances to the HumanSignal Free Trial, and are also subjected to the Academic Program Terms (the “Academic Terms”). PLEASE REVIEW THESE TERMS CAREFULLY. BY ACCEPTING THESE TERMS OR USING THE HUMANSIGNAL PRODUCT, YOU AGREE TO THESE TERMS WITH HUMANSIGNAL, INC. (“HUMANSIGNAL”).  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THESE TERMS, YOU SHOULD NOT INDICATE YOUR AGREEMENT TO THESE TERMS AND YOU SHOULD NOT USE THE HUMANSIGNAL PRODUCT.

HumanSignal Label Studio Academic Program Terms and Conditions:

• All of the users are students, employees, or contractors of an educational institution that has been accredited by its local, federal, state, or national government with the primary purpose of teaching its enrolled students.
• The qualifying institution is using the software primarily for teaching or research, and not for any direct or indirect commercial, professional, or any other for-profit use(s). Exclusions include research laboratories, institutions,  and activities primarily funded through private commercial grants.
• Users agree to cite Label Studio (“Label Studio”. Available at https://labelstud.io) in research that uses work derived from the HumanSignal Product.
• Users agree to write a short description of the research work and results that may be used in the Label Studio open source community and HumanSignal Marketing.
• Users do not have access to enterprise support SLAs, but agree to join the Label Studio Slack for communication and collaboration with HumanSignal staff and other Academic Program members.
• Users agree to provide a primary contact and catalog of research projects using the HumanSignal Product, as well as update the HumanSignal team if there are any changes to the contact or new research projects [academic@labelstudio.com].
• Users agree to allow HumanSignal to use the logo of the institute or research group for marketing purposes related to research conducted with the academic program.
• HumanSignal reserves the right to revoke access or limit usage at any time, for any reason, including usage that exceeds:
  • Greater than 500 requests per minute
  • Greater than 200,000 tasks per project
• Users under the Academic Program may be required to show proof of eligibility.
